(Belated) Snowflake Challenge- Day 6

In your own space, share a book/song/movie/tv show/fanwork/etc that changed your life. Something that impacted on your consciousness in a way that left its mark on your soul. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.
I really can't mention just one. So i'll try to be brief in describing a few.
The first one is a bit of a cheat, since it's not something specifically but a lot of things under one big label. Mythology. I was a big mythology/folklore geek growing up and would always dream up of gods and mortal heroes and dryads and leprechauns and fairies and all those supernatural elements in the old word-of-mouth tradition.
The second was the disney movies, specifically the disney princesses movies. I know that a lot of people don't like the old-princesses movies and call them weak and "all they care is finding a man" but I call that idiotic. I always saw them as hard working, stubborn, kind and compassionate women who never gave up on their dreams (man or no man) My favorite one will always be cinderella and I actually wanted to be her when I was little. She never stopped being kind and compassionate, despite all the things thrown her way and all obstacles and cruelty she went through. Plus disney animation was and still is, my inspiration.
Then there was Peter Pan (and no not just the Disney 1953 movie but peter pan in general). Peter Pan planted in my love of flying, not just the dream of physical flight but also of reaching higher and higher for your dream, to never give up, to always try to remain a child at heart.
Percy Jackson what I took out of it the most is the incredible endurance of love. that and the absolute glee at the creative way riordan breathed new exciting life to greek mythology.
Harry Potter has hold a special place in my heart for the lost time (second only to peter pan) it what made me love reading. It's what introduced me to fandom. It was the comfort during several hard moments growing up- the magic and the message of undying friendship and loyalty and courage. It taught me to never give up and to believe in things.
Fandoms has done so much for me.
