Harry Potter DH

If anyone is interested in a Next Gen Harry Potter story that doesn't follow Cursed Child...

The Heirloom Grove is currently casting for an epilogue-centric short film. It's first part of the project followed by a fanfic once the short film is done.

casting is for people in UK only but I figure people can spread the word cause the short film seems to be the most important part thing needed.

(I'm helping a little, including spreading the word)

the project is on LJ:

it would be so cool if it gets made.

Due to some unforeseen things (aka had to change plane tickets because extended Family stuff) I'm still not in the UK.
We leave instead next saturday- which is not bad and we'll be there by September 1st (and I'm going to convince my parents to go to the studio tour so that it can really be a HP centric day!)

and because of excitement to go to UKmy brain got invaded by a plotbunny to do a "dear diary" sort of fanfic from an OC perspective about "going to Hogwarts".

I'm already plotting it but I need a bit of help--

which would be more Canon-realistic premise for the OC beginning at Hogwarts?

A. Someone who got the original Hogwarts letter at 11, travelled with the Hogwarts Express, got to hogwarts, got sorted, but by end of week parents pulled her out because they "don't think she's ready for Hogwarts".  So she gets home-schooled (family full of ex-professors) and comes back for Third Year?

B. gone to different wizardry school and transfers to Hogwarts by third year? (the books/jkr? mentioned the possibility of transfer/exchange students (bill & the brazilian person?)- even if we never saw one in book canon.

I can go with either- but I want the one that would actually fit canon and not come across as rule-bending Mary Sue

so anyone can give me a hand with it? I sort of really want to write this and share it.

(just got back and needed to nap before posting this)

I managed to convince my family to go to the hp Diagon Alley theme park but instead of going to week before we leave for the UK we went this weekend.

I cried a lot of happy tears when I walked past the magic brick wall into Diagon Alley.  It looked so much more incredible than the videos.

I seen pictures of London from a vacation my family took when i was little (so I don't think it counts as being to london) but it seems they got the "london" look pretty close (the train station part definitely looks identical to what I seen from english train stations). They even included a little book detail- the fact that the muggle entrance to the leaky Cauldron was between a "big book shop and a record shop". That made me smile.

the ride in the hogwarts express was like a dream come true. and it was so much fun (specially "seeing" the trio outside of the compartment *except for the part where Ron was made to be a "all I care about is food and Hermione scolds him with "honestly ronald" and blah blah ughhh. Ron was made to look so much better in the Hogwarts Castle/Forbidden journey ride).

(and now I know the hogwarts express compartments can fit up to six people- which I been wanting to know for the longest time)

I can only describe the park as "whimsy" it's very coloring and crazy and there's so many things going on all around (Weasley Wizard Wheezes was incredible! they even had the giant (Fred?) head with the magic hat and disappearing rabbit. ) they have a lot of cool stuff. I was happy to find they sell decoy detonators (although the toy itself doesn't do much- but it's still a fun one)

Quality Quidditch looks great- but it doesn't have a lot of stuff (and the quidditch sweaters are so ridiculously expensive- $108 for one sweater!?!?)

the ollivander wandshop in diagon alley is slightly better only because it's not so small and so people don't feel cramp up in there. (the "ollivanders" there also does something better- he doesn't forget to measure people with a measuring tape as he asks info about their wand arms,etc- which is in the book and I can't believe they didn't do this in the original wandshop in hogsmeade)

haven't gone to the gregorovitch wandshop though.

the "interactive" wands Are Super cool!!!! like it feels like you're doing real magic!!! (although they're very sensitive- I dropped mine and had to get it repaired because the mechanism inside got crooked when it hit the floor-

so if you buy an interactive wand- Don't Drop it.

wiseacre wizard equipment was a very pretty store but the merchandise didn't really grabbed me (save a cauldron mug- that was cool. )

same with madam malkins- the store is very pretty and the manequis have beautiful outfits (they have a mock up of what I think is fleurs wedding dress? and it was a projection of flowers on it- very beautiful) but they don't sell half the stuff they display (they seem to sell only hogwart houses robes and hats. and they don't sell hermione yule ball dress)

I bought tons of stuff at Scribbulus (mainly quills and inkwells and parchment so I can send hogwarts-style stuff from when I'm in the uk)

Magical Menagerie was awesome too (and I was able to identify all the animals- even the Crumple-Horned Snorkack (although the employee there said it wasn't that but Evanna/Luna said it was and I believe her) (although why they had to sell ferret plushies ughh. those are not approved hogwarts pets! I don't care what the movie said!)

borgis and burke was genuinely so creepy. (I saw the hand of glory and it scared the daylight out of me because I wasn't expect it to move)
(also did not appreciated the store clerk who hid in the dark corner outside the store and jumped at us. I don't care if it's in character I felt my heart going up my throat)

I been to the Hogsmeade park before (saved up to go two years ago) and I'm glad that they were more aware of how hot it gets when they built Diagon Alley because it was so much easier to spend all day in the Diagon Alley park than it was in the Hogsmeade one (lots more shade in Diagon Alley- knockturn alley was even all dark out so that was good to get out of the blazing sun)

speaking of blazing sun--- the fortescue ice cream shop was so amazing! we got to try all the flavors over the weekend and they're all delicious!

other than that Best thing were the celestina warbeck show and the puppeteer "tale of three brothers" show. super fun!
(although having heard celestina warbeck and it being stablished she has a jazz-y style of music- I really don't understand why everyone except molly weasley hates her music. the only thing I can think of this in regard to fleur's dislike of her is maybe fleur likes classical music and so dislikes celestina jazz-yness? cause otherwise i don't know. the songs were catchy!!!)

the gringotts ride was also super cool! (although wow how technology advanced since the first hp park open- the hologram thing with bill and the goblin made the stuff in the forbidden journey look a little dated- and it hasn't been that long!)

so yeah. super awesome and amazing trip and i highly recommend everyone going!

Snowflake Challenge--- Day 14
In your own space, write a love letter. Write it Fandom in general, to a particular fandom, to a trope, a relationship, a character, or to your flist. Share you love and squee as loud as you want to. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

Despite how much I might whine about the HP Fandom, I probably wouldn't be who I am without it. HP helped shape me and discover so many things I'm passionate about and bring me joy. I discovered some amazing art and it help me strengthen friendships that long distance cause strains to. It helped me make many new friends.

So Thank You. Harry Potter.

Snowflake Challenge--- Day 13
In your own space, talk about setting yourself a fannish goal. Big or small, it doesn't matter. Some great examples include: complete a bingo, sign-up for a Big Bang, write that fic you've been thinking about for years, podfic that story that you love, make a fanmix for your fandom, post that bit of meta or reclist you keep postponing. Maybe resolve to be better at leaving feedback, or answering comments. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

I Definitely Want to make it my goal to finish at least, 3 fanfic ideas I been juggling with. To write something bigger than a one-shot.
to write something very detailed and layered and a good, solid character exploration-fleshing out piece.
nevrafire: (Default)
Snowflake Challenge--- Day Five:

In your own space, talk about a creator. Show us why you think they are amazing. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

okay, I really hope that he doesn't get very embarrassed about this, but I have to go for [ profile] lightofdaye as the creator I want to talk about.

I discovered lightofdaye by accident while browsing around active hp comms, but it was the best happy accident I hit in fandom in a while.

to put it poetically, Lightofdaye is a rare, priceless diamond in the never-ending mine of the hp fandom. Because while I was agonizing about the lack of Harry het / general Het fanfiction, that is Not Harry/Ginny or Harry/Hermione, in the drowning sea of slash and cross-gen that kind of taken over, he came with his delightful Harry/Demelza ficlets and his harry/luna.. and even Harry/Susan! (my second otp)

and his stuff is some of THE BEST I read in YEARS.

What, originally, made stick around to watch his work were these three things:

1. He Wrote Harry Het. Really, Really Great flawless-IC! Harry Het. (and Rare! Harry Het. None of that Harry/Ginny or Harry/Hermione but... Harry/Demelza (which became a favorite), Harry/Daphne...

2. He wrote amazing fics/ficlets of My favorite pairings and OTPs--- Harry/Susan, Harry/Luna, Ron/Hermione, Ginny/Neville. All pitch perfect IC!

3. He went and wrote Albus Potter het! sexy, this-is-now-my-headcanon-for-Albus Potter het!

and then I further fell in love with his work because of its authentic uk/english-ness, Flawless characterization that grow organically from Rowling's, A love of Rare pairings (His Ginny/Dean piece! *well, Ginny/Dean/Demelza* how much Ginny/Dean you see in the hp fandom, really? and that well written?) ,Sexy fics  that are sexy without being upsettingly explicit...

and if that wasn't enough he's witty/fun and such a sweet guy.

so Definitely I recommend Everyone go send him praises because he deserves them all.

Here's a Few of my favorite fics from him:

Sleeping On Her Sofa (Harry/Susan)

Title: I Should Be Sleeping Like A Log- Pairing: Harry/Susan

Fic: Hanging By A Thread (Harry/Demelza, Oneshot)

Title: Tigress---Pairing: Albus Potter/Molly Weasley II

Title: Coming And Going---Pairing: Ron/Hermione

(and if you read this daye, I hope this doesn't make you pull a "harry potter runs from the spotlight" thing. I do apologize, If I seem like a crazy fangirl. It's not intentional)

Happy New Year everyone!   Hope Everyone had a great holiday season and a good new years (Hello 2014! I have such high hopes for you)

I saw this meme floating around and decided to participate too, because it looks like fun (even when I'm really behind- so you get 3 days in one, so I can catch up)

Snowflake Challenge---Day One:
In your own space, post a rec for at least three fanworks that you have created. It can be your favorite fanworks that you've created, or fanworks you feel no one ever saw, or fanworks you say would define you as a creator.
(It had to be my work first, why? oh well...)

Looking back on the work I done since I joined lj, i'm surprised that I have a nice handful of works, and to have works I'm proud off, so i'm picking five instead of three.

1. Her Family's Christmas (ART) for hpholiday-2013

I loved doing this piece, because there's so little fanworks about Hermione's parents, pre or post war, and specially happy one. (although, fyi, its been Comfirmed by Rowling  that they have a happy ending).
I love the way the little details came out (love doing hermione's coat) , and the way I managed to do the body language, and specially, I love drawing Hermione's parents and very happy on how they came up. Definitely hoping to do more with Hermione and her parents.

2. Samhain Twilight for Manghahabi (DRABBLE) for hp-halloween- 2012

I love autumn, it's favorite season, so I really had fun with the flowery imagery here, and I really wanted to paint a picture of warmth and magic and what Autumn represents to me. Also including some of my favorite pairings and headcanon (Neville's patronus) made me happy.

3. "Fragment Memories from Neverland" (DRABBLES + ART) for adopt-a-prompt- 2012

When I saw this Harry Potter/Peter Pan crossover prompt, I Knew I had to do it. I always loved Peter Pan, and I love Harry Potter so I definitely wanted to have it and give it my all. I had so much fun doing it and it made me love both Peter Pan and Harry Potter more than I already did.

I do definitely want to flesh this out into a full-written fanfic and I'm definitely working on it and will get it posted this year.

4. "Μαθαίνοντας από τις υπηρέτριες Ωκεανό ("Learning from the Ocean maids") for reversathon-2012

Oh wow I had so much fun doing this! Specially drawing younger!dumbledore. I had fun doing research for the background (which looks pretty) and the mermaid (which was so hard to draw but so worth it cause it looks pretty so pretty) And the mermish language (which is the taken from the alphabet from Disney's "Atlantis")

5. Before we Remember the grief- we live and love For hp-may-madness- 2012

I loved doing this because of the pairings that I got to write about (two which are otps). I'm also really happy with the imagery and the details I put into each drabble.

Hi everyone!
I recently found this really, really cool multi-fandom comunity that does a once a year "christmas-gift giving" type fest, and It looks fantastic!

[ profile] wishlist_fic

I been browsing their 2012 fest stuff and they have A Lot of great fandoms to play with:
Harry Potter (of course), Buffy, Avengers, Doctor Who, LoTR, OuAT, inception, sailor moon,Percy Jackson, etc

the best part is? it has crossover- so you could write Hp/Doctor Who, HP/OuAT, HP/Avengers,etc

A more descriptive description of the comm is this one:
The premise is very simple. Writers & Artist, sign up to fill a certain number of prompts which they then post all through December until Christmas. Ideally, that'd be 24 ficlets for 24 days. Half and quarter Wishlists are also accepted (ie, 12 or 6 prompts).

The SIGN UP Post is this one :

(You do need to apply for membership- but that's you can apply and then you'll be a member AFTER sign ups close- and really, this seems like such a great comm so why not become a member?):

So it seems Fun and flexible and it Would Be AMAZING if more people sign up for it so there's more great Fic.

so people who watch me, consider this my attempt to tempt you to participate. (I Am)

Title: Practice
Rating: PG
Summary:  It wasn't that Angelina had been abandoned by her date, precisely...

Why I loved it: I love Any Fic that Adds depth to the Wealey Twins, as themselves and as their individual selves, so this was a delight to read. I love the slow build-up romance in this piece between "Angie" and Fred- showcasing that he can be more than just a prankster.

Title: Faith:
Author: TajaReyul
: PG/PG-13
Summary: When Audrey is called to appear before the Muggle-born Registration Commission, she hits upon a unique plan to safeguard her wand.

Why I loved it: I still don't know what to think of Percy's-future-wife-Audrey-- as we only have her name to go by in canon-- But this is one of my Favorite interpretations of her because it paints her as just So Clever & "has character" - and the slow build up of her romance with Percy during/post Second World War was lovely and believable. (and I usually don't like Percy! but I loved his portrayal here)

Title:Almost Honorable:
Rating: PG
Summary: Lee Jordan never thought he'd be anything more than a prankster. Funny how war changes people.

Why I loved it: Again, Love fics that flesh out characters beyond the simplistic. This might be Short but it was a nice peek into Lee Jordan during the War.

Title:Help in Hufflepuff:
Rating: PG
Summary: AU. Professor Sprout is ill, but this doesn't prevent her from caring for her little badgers. Or do they have to reverse the roles? Just a little, fluffy drabble.

Why I loved it: Hufflepuff at it's Best. I have a soft spot for the Hufflepuff house (Favorite House, followed by Gryffindor) and this really showcase the unity in the members of the Hufflepuff House.

Title: Love in an Unlikely Heart:
Author: et-tu-lj
Rating: PG
Summary: Boys were a distraction, and Millicent Bullstrode didn't need someone to fawn over her. She got more done without someone underfoot. At least that's what she used to think.
Why I love it: LOVE it when I find fics that portray the more quiet- type of love. and this is so funny and lovely.

RECTOBER (HP EDITION)- Day 4 (It's Minerva McGonagall's Birthday!)

Title: Guardians of the Stone:
Artist: shadowycat
Rating: G
Summary: Minerva creates the giant chess set.

Why I loved it: This was done based of one of my prompts for the minervafest-2012. and What can I say? it's pretty spectacular. The level of detail is beautiful and I love confident/determinedlooking!McGonagall (that's the best part)
nevrafire: (Default)
Rectober- Day 3

Title: Tom Riddle /Artist: slytherinfiend /Character: Tom Riddle/ Rating: G
Why I loved it: slytherinfiend was the one artist that got me intrigued by Tom Riddle- as played by Christian Coulson and her recreation of canon scenes with Coulson as Riddle stuck with me way after the movies decided to cut/recast him.
Title: Tom Marvolo Riddle /Artist: Tom-M-Riddle /Character: Tom Riddle/ Rating: G
Why I loved it: It's really hard finding good *GUY* hp cosplayers. This one really nails Tom riddle's intense crazy-look.

Title: Tom Riddle /Artist:  Irrisor-Immortalis /Character: Tom Riddle/ Rating: G
Why I loved it: Love this portrait of Coulson!Riddle with the glowing red Voldemort!eyes. Very Menacing.

Title: Heir of Slytherin  /Artist: slywillow /Character: Tom riddle Rating:G
Heir of Slytherin by slywillow:
Why I loved it: Love the sharp features and piercing eyes on this interpretation of Tom Riddle.

Title: A Riddle /Artist:believe-the-lie /Character: Tom riddle/  Rating: G
Why I loved it: I love the balance between the still handsome Tom Riddle and the hints of his already-transformation into Voldemort

nevrafire: (Default)

Title: Malfoy´s Costumes:
Artist: Makani
Pairing(s): Lucius/Narcissa
Rating: G?
Summary: Lucius & Narcissa Malfoy go to a costume party dresses as their elegant albino peacocks.

Why I loved it: An oldie but a gorgeous one. Makani was the only artist that made like Lucius&Narcissa Malfoy. plus, her HP Art Was the most Gorgeous thing Ever. (And I miss it)
nevrafire: (Default)

Title: I Missed You :

Artist: kit466
Rating: G
Summary: AU. Albus returns.

Why I loved it: (in Honor of Richard Harris Birthday- Otober 1st. *RIP*) One of my Favorite ships in Harry Potter. This was a prompt I placed for the Minerva Fest- a "What If" Albus faked his death and Reunited with Minerva after the War. I love how dramatic and tender the drawing is and kit466 is my Favorite MMAD artist so I was Thrilled to receive this from her.
